TENAGA NASIONAL BERHAD (TOWER & SHOPPING COMPLEX)
Langkawi, Kedah Darul Aman.
The master plan for proposed development consist of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) District Headquarters, Commercial Zone, Office Tower, Hotel and Service Apartments/Condominium.
The commercial zone is planned to be located at the junction of Kuah-Air Hangat road and proposed expressway to take advantage of the crowd pulling power generated from the junction.
TNB Tower is placed at the middle of the site, pushed back away but facing the proposed expressway to give it a grand emphasis that it deserves. The addition of the People Plaza with shopping mall underneath will enhance the tower's grandeur as it provides the perfect processional approach from the entry point off the highway. A nine-storey office and hotel will flank the Islamic styled TNB Tower on each side thus providing a proper enclosure for the plaza.
The apartment complex is placed at the highest point of site, thus providing it the best view available. A clubhouse with sports facilities is planned to be located furthest away from the main road to assure maximum tranquility.
The TNB Tower rises up to nine storey high reaching the maximum height constraint set by Langkawi Development Authority (LADA). It has a two storey podium enriched with Islamic arch elements and a minimal punched hole window openings. This will give it an elegant yet solid base for the tower. The tower will mostly be clad with reflective glass, balanced by horizontal bands at every level. The tower is capped by a pyramidal shaped skylight roof.
