Initial designed for proton staff, the phase 1 of 21 acres is zoned for medium-low residential totaling to over 800 units the layout is built around the concept of community, taking precedence of traditional malay kampung open spaces are created culminating to common community function building – surau and hall. Social integration is encouraged. These housing has however undergone a design modification to function as students housing for the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris requirement as it stands today. Accommodating students in apartment rooms of 2 is an innovative planning meeting the strict government standards guidelines. The environment intent of a ‘malay kampung’ is portrayed onto façade treatment with usage of timber, full height windows, and high pitched roof layerings.
