PHILOSOPHY

SUSTAINABILITY

Great architecture embraces a profound sensitivity towards a myriad of factors, including the physical context, culture, and climate of a place.

As architects, we embrace the present while honoring the past, constantly striving to deliver solutions that transcend time. Every design we create adopts a holistic approach, blending strategic thinking with poetic expression.

Our belief is that buildings should serve a higher purpose. Through great architecture, we shape the human experience, elevate the quality of the built environment, and actively contribute to the conservation of Earth's limited resources.

Embedded within the philosophy of "Design with Beauty, Build in Truth," our aspiration extends beyond leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.

Aligned with the nation's vision for 2020 and beyond, Arkitek FAA is unwavering in our commitment to contribute towards establishing a developed Malaysia and a better world, embracing both beauty and truth in our endeavors.

FAA's unwavering commitment to addressing sustainable environmental, social, and economic challenges has been ingrained in our methodologies long before it became obligatory. Our approach is rooted in the rich knowledge of the Malaysian Vernacular, drawing inspiration from sustainable practices deeply embedded in our culture. We believe that sustainable design is a collaborative process that necessitates ecological thinking, examining systems, relationships, and interactions. With buildings accounting for approximately 70% of a city's greenhouse gas emissions, reducing this impact requires a radical transformation in how the built environment is planned, designed, constructed, and operated. At FAA, we view sustainability not as a hindrance, but as an enriching element that enhances design. It seeks to reduce construction and operational costs while ultimately helping to conserve Earth's limited resources.

Through a comprehensive understanding of ecological systems, FAA has developed a robust practice strategy, dedicated design tools, and methodologies to maximize the sustainable value of every project. As part of our continual development, we employ modeling and computational design analysis to adopt a holistic approach to Environmental and Sustainable Design (ESD), evident in our design solutions. Our track record includes the successful development of Bio-XCell, a GBI-accredited green building, which has further enhanced our understanding of sustainable strategies and methodologies.

FAA offers creative and viable strategies that empower clients to progress towards fully sustainable buildings. At the outset of each project, we strive to provide clients with a design strategy that respects the natural capacity of the planet. This approach enables our clients to comprehend how their investments can:

  • Achieve carbon neutrality

  • Become self-sufficient through rainwater harvesting

  • Utilize sustainable materials in construction

  • Adapt to climate change

  • Operate sustainably

  • Make positive contributions to the community and environment

Sustainability lies at the very core of FAA's business ethos, driving us to pioneer innovative solutions that harmonize the built environment with the well-being of our planet.

BIM

BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING

Arkitek FAA has been making progressive strides in implementing and developing their BIM (Building Information Modeling) unit since 2012. By utilizing tools such as Revit and a comprehensive suite of modeling tools, they have successfully streamlined their project delivery process, leading to increased work efficiency and improved communication, decision-making, accuracy, and collaboration among their teams.

BIM Architecture represents a way of working that fosters information modeling and management within a team environment. It emphasizes the importance of standardization among team members and harnesses the combined efforts of people, processes, and technology to create value. The utilization of the BIM Architecture system, also known as Building Information Modeling, enables rapid exchange of information between consultants and clients, both locally and internationally. It empowers architects and designers to effectively communicate design intent, while gaining insights into performance, appearance, and cost early in the building design process. Through BIM Architecture, architects, engineers, and consultants are provided with the necessary tools to capture and analyze design concepts with ease. It allows for the maintenance of coordinated and reliable design data throughout the documentation and construction stages. By constructing an exact virtual building, BIM Architecture helps resolve architectural and construction issues as they arise. The benefits of BIM include the ability to develop smart and efficient building designs that comply with requirements and standards. It also facilitates the creation of accurate project renderings from the concept stage to job completion, thereby reducing the need for value engineering due to budget constraints.

For Arkitek FAA, BIM represents an essential part of their future plans, as they strive to stay at the forefront of technological advancements. They recognize the importance of establishing a highly productive workforce and gaining a competitive advantage in the building industry by leveraging innovative technologies.
